Valley of Flowers "Foolon ki Ghati" is one of those beautiful trekking expeditions that can be enjoyed during the monsoon season. It is flawlessly nestled in the West Himalayan region of Uttarakhand and lies at a lofty height of 3600 m above sea level. With an opportunity to spot the very rare blue Primula, the Valley Of Flowers trek is one of the best-known treks in the world.

The Valley of Flowers is also believed to be the place from where Hanuman brought the magical herb to resuscitate Lakshman in the Hindu epic Ramayan. Just as you set your foot into the valley, the intoxicating mix of fragrances emitted from the flowers makes you feel in a paradise. The hidden lake at the height of 14,400 ft, creates a hidden coop for numerous species of wildflowers like the saxifrages, sedums, lilies, poppy, calendulas, daisies, geranium, zinnia, and petunia.

Day 1: Rishikesh to Govindghat via Joshimath

At around 7 am, assemble at the pre-decided spot in Rishikesh where a representative will greet you and give a short overview of your entire journey. You will then begin a long-distance, scenic uphill drive from Haridwar to Govindghat. Along the way, pass through Devaprayag to witness the holy confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda Rivers to form the River Ganges. The roads are cut out from the mountain's edges and at times you'll only see the river flowing in the gorge deep below. You will also be passing through Joshimath, which is the midpoint for other religious pilgrimage locations. Later in the evening take a halt at Govindghat for the night.

Day 2: Govindghat to Ghangaria

Start off the day with a hearty meal enjoying the amazing lush green mountainous views. You will then be driven to a nearby town called Poolna from where you will start your trek to Ghangaria. Walk the well-defined trail that passes through lush green forest and alongside the beautiful Lakshman Ganga River. Take a moment to thank the volunteers who sweep the trail every day to keep it clutter-free and in the best condition possible. Encounter the various dhabas on the way from where you can get some refreshments and refill your water bottles. After completing the short gradual ascent of 9 Km you will reach Ghangaria, a small village encircled by mountains. Check into your hotel, and set off to explore the beautiful surroundings. Have a delicious dinner of local cuisines in Ghangharia and call-it-a-day.

Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flower

This day begins from Gangharia and takes you to Valley of Flowers and then again get back to Gangharia. Once you will hit Valley of Flowers, you will see various blossoms like Rose, Meadow Geranium, Canine Flower, Hooked Adhere Seed. The whole trek seems to fill one's soul with peace. The tranquil nature of the place will let you forget all the worries and will make you a lively person.

The Valley of Flowers trek is about 6-7 km although it depends on the trekkers how much time they want to spend in the valley and how deeply they want to know about it. After enjoying the Valley of Flowers Trek, you will get back to Ghangaria and will spend the night in the guest house.

Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib

This day you will visit the Hemkund Sahib. The day begins by doing breakfast at Ghangaria and then trek starts to Hemkund Sahib. The trek is 6 km long. Hemkund Sahib is known to be the planet's greatest Gurudwara at an altitude of 4,329 meters. You will also see the state flower of Uttarakhand,i.e. Brahma Kamal. Gurudwara is located beside Hemkund lake. You can also discover Laxman Temple over here. In short, the place is completely spiritual and gives positive energy to all present there. After having a glimpse of the place, you will return to Ghangaria.

Day 5: Ghangaria to Govindghat

After having morning breakfast, you will be starting the easy descent of 9 km to Poolna on the same trail that you trekked on earlier. Once you reach Poolna a cab will take you back to Govindghat that is 4 km away. If you desire, you can go on a tour of the beautiful Auli in the evening. Later in the evening return back to the hotel in Govindghat for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Ghangaria to Rishikesh

Leave Govindghat early for your return journey back to Rishikesh. The Valley of Flowers Trekking package ends here, take back a mosaic of unbelievable memories with you.

How to Reach Valley of Flowers Trek

At first you have to reach Rishikesh, after that we will take care of your further travel plan.

Options to reach Rishikesh:

1. Take overnight train/bus to Rishikesh.

2. Take overnight train/bus to Haridwar and drive to Rishikesh (35 min drive with normal traffic).

3. Take the flight to Dehradun airport (Jolly Grant Airport) and drive to Rishikesh (20 km, 30 min), if coming by flight then come one day early.

1What about the weather conditions in the mountain region?

Weather in mountains is completely unpredictable and hence one must remain prepared for all of its kind. Usually, nights are cold in comparison to days and hence travelers are suggested to take their extra warm clothes with them. Also, it depends on seasons too.

2 Are mobile networks affected during the trek?

It totally depends upon the kind of place you are at. In the intensely remote areas, you may not find networks or interrupted networks but in most of the areas, networks are available.
